1991-1993 - First Major Landscaping Project

In 1991 we finally pulled together enough money to work on the landscaping...and it needed it badly.  The plan was to work solely on the back, where all of our outdoor living took place.  Shortly after starting the work we discovered that the landscaper, Gene, had purchased a large amount of rocks, shrubs and large trees for the front slope.

This was rather dismaying because it certainly wasn't in the budget.  However, he was just getting started in the area and had decided to put his "advertising budget" into our front slope.  Our house is the very first one you see when coming into the development and is directly across from the community swimming pool...so it gets lots of exposure.  So, if it wasn't costing us anything we certainly weren't going to quibble.

These photos are of the front and outside slopes before and during the landscaping project.

These are of the front slopes after he was done.

The area to the left of our garage was also pretty bad...he did a retaining wall and put in a front fence to hide the area from view.
